As a finalist for the 2019 Creative Climate Awards (organized by the Human Impacts Institute), we are honored to bring this static version of REEF WAKE to the Williamsburgh Library. Given the constraints of this month-long exhibition, we have removed the participatory elements to reduce potential safety hazards. In this meditative presentation, a tiny revolving “lighthouse” shines a narrow beam of life around the room, slowly revealing these glowing coral fragments as our everyday garbage.

Special thanks to Librarian Catherine Skrzypek, the Human Impacts Institute, and the Williamsburgh Library Staff for their support in making this installation a reality.

REEF WAKE will be on view through December 2019 in the Williamsburgh Library branch of the Brooklyn Public Library system during library hours.

REEF WAKE @ Our Future Festival

We have been invited to exhibit a 10ft x 10ft installation of REEF WAKE as part of the STEM Kids NYC booth at Our Future Festival on Governor's Island. Come find us in Nolan Park!

Special thanks to the STEM Kids NYC team, Yvonne Thevenot and Stephanie Haughton for the opportunity to bring REEF WAKE to this festival.

The New York City Metro Chapter of the Climate Reality Project and Human Impacts Institute in collaboration with The Trust for Governors Island present a daylong festival of events on Governors Island as part of Climate Week NYC 2019Global Goals Week 2019 and concurrent with the UN Climate Action Summit 2019. This groundbreaking event highlights local action and opportunities for New Yorkers of all ages to take climate action, and to show the world how we can all be part of the movement for change during this historic week.

The festival will feature informative talks and discussions by climate leaders, creative and fun workshops that spark curiosity and inspire belonging as it relates to our shared urban environment, climate-themed dance and theatrical performances, and much more. In addition, multiple organizations representing activism, the energy sector and climate education and communications will be stationed in Nolan Park throughout the day. And a series of guided tours and interactive walks will allow visitors the chance to explore and learn about Governors Island, from its urban farm to resilient new park, through the lens of climate change.
